Houston, Texas — The CommuteAir Maintenance Department pleased to announce that Joe Kirby has been promoted to Managing Director of Maintenance Training and Standards.
Kirby most recently served as Director of Maintenance Training, reporting to the Managing Director of Quality Control. He will now report directly to the VP of Maintenance, Lon Ziegler.
“Since joining CommuteAir two years ago, Joe has been instrumental in implementing our industry-leading apprentice program and creation of the hands-on lab at our Houston Training Center,” said Ziegler. “In his new role, Joe will also manage our professional standards and explore Part 147 certification for technician training.”
Kirby is dedicated to developing employees and ensuring they have the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. In less than two years, Kirby and his team have built a successful maintenance training program featuring a diverse learning methodology. Currently, Kirby and his team are integrating formal in-class teaching theory and operation combined with hands-on lab training, computer-based eLearning, and a virtual reality training module for aircraft familiarization.
In addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics and master’s degree in Management, Kirby is a U.S. Navy Veteran, having spent 22 years serving our country and working on aircraft such as the F/A-18, C-9B, C-40A (737), and the C-130.
